At Waitati Kura, we lead with learning by following our mantra: Light the mind, fire the heart, and engage the whānau.
It is essential to us that we strike the right balance between teacher-led, explicit instruction and learner-led projects or student agency. The goals that the students set in Term 1 and Term 3 help us focus their learning, and the formal assessments that we complete in Term 2 and Term 4 help guide the teachers on what they need to teach.
