Welcome Back to Waitati Kura!

Happy New Year, everyone!

While our school gates might have been closed for the holidays, Waitati Kura has been absolutely buzzing! There is such a wonderful, vibrant energy in the air as we gear up for a fantastic 2026. We’ve missed you all so much and simply couldn’t wait to share some of the magic happening behind the scenes.

Our Community Legends

We have to start with a massive shout-out to three incredible members of our community: Don Hill, Pete Norrish, and Paul Clements. These legends have spent countless hours of their summer break rolling up their sleeves and working their magic on the schoolhouse. Thanks to their dedication and “can-do” attitude, the house has been beautifully refreshed and is officially ready to be rented for 2026!

Help us find a neighbour! If you know someone who might be interested in renting the schoolhouse, please pass on my details—we’d love to get it settled for the new year.

Getting Ready for Day One

Our teachers are officially back in action! The classrooms are being transformed into exciting spaces for the year ahead. If you see us around, please stop and say hello. We’ve truly missed seeing all your friendly faces!

  • Stationery: Now is the perfect time to get your supplies sorted. Having everything ready for the first day helps our tamariki feel prepared and ready to dive into their new class community.
  • The Big Day: We can’t wait to see you on Tuesday, 3rd February!
  • Mihi Whakatau: We start the year by welcoming new students to Waitati Kura. This starts at 9 am, and everyone is welcome to come along.
  • Arrivals: Doors open at 8:30 am. While you might see staff earlier, we’ll be busy behind the scenes getting everything perfect for the day. If you need to drop your child off earlier, please just have a quick chat with your classroom teacher to organise this.

Connecting with Us

Our doors are always open. After school, you’ll find our teachers out on the concrete ready for a chat, or feel free to pop into the classrooms to see the wonderful mahi being done. You are always welcome here.

  • Communication: If you ever have a question or a concern, your first point of contact is always your classroom teacher. They are here to help! Feel free to pop in after school for a quick kōrero or send an email to schedule a more formal hui.

Grow With Us!

Do you know a family new to the area, or someone looking for a supportive, vibrant learning environment for their tamariki? We are currently welcoming new enrolments!

If you know someone who would love to join the Waitati Kura family, please encourage them to reach out. We would be so proud to show them around, introduce our team, and welcome them into our wonderful community.

Let’s make 2026 the best year yet!

Warmly,

The Waitati Kura Team
