Being a senior student in our rural school comes with a wide range of benefits that help tamariki grow as leaders and as members of our community. They’re given opportunities to step up. Through leadership roles, community service, outdoor camps, and mentoring younger students — all while staying grounded in the values that make our school special.
A key part of who we are is our Tuakana/Teina relationship. We hold tightly to this tradition and foster it in many ways, from the friendships we build across year levels to the support we provide at our on‑site Playcentre. These connections strengthen our sense of responsibility and belonging.
Our programme is shaped by our place in Otago and reflects the importance of being locally grounded. We learn through experiences connected to our environment, whether that’s environmental stewardship or projects that give back to our community. Leadership here isn’t just about titles; it’s about service, contribution, and understanding the role we play in sustaining the people and places around us.
